Pitjit
Pitjit is a
traditional Indonesian massage technique which is
originally done by a “tukang pitjit”. This usually is a
farmer’s wife who offers a firm massage in return for
some money.
Pitjit
includes the use of herbal oils, herbal balms and cold
and hot compresses. Especially when you have a cold,
Pitjit is very effective. The back will be rubbed in
with a special balm and the masseuse uses a coin to
‘draw’ stripes all over the back. This seemingly Spartan
technique removes your cold very effectively. In Java
they call this technique “Keroh”.
Pitjit is
also characterized by its continuous rapid massage
movements using hands, fingers, thumbs and the clapping
of open and closed fists. Pitjit is an intense total
body massage.
You will
feel reborn afterwards.
