Shiatsu
massage
Shiatsu
originally is a part of traditional eastern medicine. It
is a Japanese pressure point technique formerly used in
the homes of families. It was traditionally done on a
futon on the ground. Shiatsu is based on the principal
that “Qi” (energy) flows through a network of
meridians. This “Qi” feeds the muscles, tissues
and organs.
Shiatsu literally means “pressure with fingers”. This
pressure is applied on specific points on the body by
using the natural body weight. Usually the thumbs are
used to apply pressure but can also be applied with the
palm of a hand, an elbow, a knee or a foot. This
relaxing massage helps to release blocked energy,
stimulates the blood circulation and eases the mind.
